14.8mm nominal4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH) / 4mm Krypton cavity / 6.8mm Acoustic
Panel 1, inside: 4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH). Panel 2: 6.8mm Acoustic. Cavity: 4mm. Gas requested: Krypton.
Owner-supplied indicative baseline for this Low-E unit, cavity and gas; exact product performance requires supplier confirmation. The supplier confirms the value and whether its declaration is for the glass unit or whole window.
The nominal overall thickness is the sum of both panes and the cavity: 4 + 4 + 6.8 = 14.8mm. The supplied ±1mm overall-thickness guideline must be confirmed by your supplier.
Configure your heritage unit
4mm inside pane + 4mm cavity + 6.8mm second pane. The supplied ±1mm overall-thickness guideline needs supplier confirmation and is separate from fitting clearance.
U-value: 1.9 W/m²K — indicative baseline; confirm with supplier.
U-values are indicative baseline guides for the selected Low-E unit, cavity and gas. Manufacturers use different brands, coatings and unit constructions, so actual U-values may differ. Confirm the declared U-value for your exact unit with your chosen supplier before ordering. No improvement is assumed for a different second pane.
Sizes may be left blank. Contact details are collected once in the basket. This is a request for supplier advice and quotation, not approval for manufacture.
Finished size limits — 4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH) / 4mm Krypton cavity / 6.8mm Acoustic. Maximum-size guide (width × height): 600 × 600mm or 500 × 1000mm. Keep each pair intact; no rotation or combining maxima. Minimum-size guide with toughened glass: width 150mm × height 250mm. Outside-guide sizes use the supplier-review request.
Online entry range: 1–20,000mm for each dimension; this is a form limit, not a manufacturing range. Unknown sizes can be left blank in Simple mode. Raw-sheet formats do not set finished-panel limits.

Acoustic glass for heritage window enquiries
Request made-to-measure heritage double glazing combining 4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH) on the inside, a 4mm Krypton gas cavity and 6.8mm Acoustic as Panel 2. This separate 14.8mm nominal sealed-unit make-up is available to discuss with a specialist supplier.
Request a heritage sealed unit with a 6.8mm acoustic second pane when discussing a window project with noise concerns. Describe the noise source and existing frame, and supply any required acoustic rating. The supplier confirms the exact acoustic glass and evidence for the full proposed construction; no sound-reduction figure is assumed here.
Your selected glass build-up
For this 6.8mm Acoustic product, the selected 4mm cavity and Krypton gas give an indicative U-value baseline of 1.9 W/m²K. Panel 1 is 4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH); Panel 2 is 6.8mm Acoustic. The total nominal unit thickness is 14.8mm. Confirm your rebate depth, sightline, spacer colour and the declared thermal performance with the supplier before ordering.
Supplier-dependent sizing and charges
The information below is a starting guide supplied from one manufacturer. It is not a universal manufacturing limit or an automatic price calculation. You can still request advice outside these sizes.
- Recorded 4mm cavity maximum-size alternatives: 600 × 600mm or 500 × 1000mm. Keep each width × height pair intact; do not combine maxima or assume rotation.
- Where a pane is toughened, the supplied minimum-size guide is 150 × 250mm. Supplier and product restrictions can differ.
- Some suppliers use a 0.30m² minimum chargeable area. The quote must state the actual basis and charges.
- The supplied shaping guides are +25% for straight-sided shapes and +50% for curves or non-regular shapes. These are supplier dependent, are not applied automatically and are not added together.
Sightline and spacer options
5.5mm and 7mm sightlines are requested with Black or White warm-edge spacers. The 8.5mm sightline is requested in Black or Silver; the exact spacer construction still needs confirmation. Hollow rigid or aluminium alternatives must be checked against the particular supplier’s range.
Description and application images
4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH) / 4mm Krypton cavity / 6.8mm Acoustic, requested to your finished sizes. Describe the application, dimensions, shape and processing in the planner. The supplier confirms the exact specification, manufacturing limits and quotation.
Suitable uses and specification limits
Discuss slim glazing for an existing heritage or conservation project. Provide the frame, rebate, appearance requirements and any known property restrictions.
Recorded size pairs, thickness guidance, shaping charges and indicative U-values below are supplier-dependent. They do not establish availability, whole-window performance or permission for the property.
Available shapes and glass options
This product starts with the listed inside pane, second pane, cavity and gas. The heritage planner includes sightline and spacer colour requests; patterned products use the shared manufacturer sample picker.
Current product: 4mm Low-E Toughened (TGH) / 4mm Krypton cavity / 6.8mm Acoustic · 14.8mm nominal overall. Keep the glass type, treatment and thickness with every panel.
Choose options in the planner →Edge finishes and fabrication choices
Sealed-unit edges form part of the glazing system. Confirm spacer, edge seal and frame rebates rather than selecting a decorative sheet edge. Request bars and decorative details per unit in the planner; other fabrication needs supplier review.
Include the face, orientation and drawing reference for each panel. The quotation must confirm the processing, tolerances and charges before manufacture.
Measuring instructions
- Record finished sealed-unit width, height, quantity and overall thickness. Mark the inside and outside faces and keep the existing frame or rebate measurements separately.
- Record each pane and cavity if known. Overall thickness includes every pane and cavity; do not estimate an unknown build-up from a photograph.
- Photograph the full window, frame/rebate and any identifying markings. Agree clearances, setting blocks, edge cover and fitting responsibilities with the supplier.

Typical raw stock-sheet formats
Primary manufacturers make raw sheet glass. Fabricators and processors cut, treat and assemble it for individual orders. Supply may pass through distributors; direct-sales arrangements vary.
Official manufacturer information: Pilkington, Fuyao Glass, AGC Group, Guardian Glass, Saint-Gobain. These are non-exhaustive industry examples, not preferred suppliers. Product ranges and supply arrangements vary.
These are typical formats for raw glass before cutting and processing. Availability depends on your supplier’s raw-glass source and the exact product, finish and thickness.
| Format | Raw sheet size |
|---|---|
| Machine size (standard) | 3210 × 2250 mm or 3210 × 2550 mm |
| Split size | 3210 × 2000 mm Custom split layouts may be derived from a 3210 mm ribbon; confirm the layout with your supplier. |
| Jumbo size (PLF) | 3210 × 6000 mm |
Raw sheet size is not a guaranteed orderable finished-panel size. Cutting allowances, machinery capacity and orientation, processing and handling can restrict the finished dimensions. Keep the product’s own width × height pairs and safety limits.
These formats do not establish availability for mirrors, laminates, insulated or heritage units, patterned glass, fire-rated glass or other specialist products. Their product-specific sizes and restrictions still apply.
Compare the quoted price alongside the confirmed specification, relevant quality documentation, traceable provenance and consistency. Agree shipping and lead times, handling and replacement arrangements, regardless of where the glass is made.
Enter the finished glass sizes you need in the planner. Your supplier confirms the raw material and what can be cut, processed, handled and supplied for that specification.

FAQs and care advice
Does selecting a unit give the window an energy rating?
The supplier must confirm performance for the exact unit and, where relevant, the complete window system. Pane, gas and cavity choices alone do not assign a whole-window rating.
Can I request a quote before I know all the sizes?
Yes. Start with the intended use and what you already know. Ask for help measuring or specifying, then approve the final dimensions and drawing with the supplier.
Are shaping, processing and fitting included in the price?
The supplier quotation confirms each included item and any separate charge. Planner choices are requests for review; they do not establish a final price.
How should I care for this glass?
Follow the unit and frame supplier’s instructions for cleaning glass, coatings, seals and drainage. Report damage or moisture between panes to the supplier. Agree any replacement work before disturbing the glazing.
